Easy Sausage Calzone
by: Jenna Steed (Seth's sister)
1 lb. Italian sausage 1/2 can olives, sliced
1/2 cup onion, chopped 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
16 oz. tomato sauce 4 oz. mozzarella, shredded
1 tsp. oregano 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
1 tsp. Italian seasoning 1 egg beaten
--Cook sausage in frying pan until brown, add onion and cook for 3 minutes. Add tomato sauce. Add seasonings and olives. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Mix and let simmer 15 minutes. Divide thawed loaf into quarters and roll into circles. Add 1/4 mix to each and 1/4 mozzarella on top of each. Close by pinching. Baste with beaten egg. Cook on cookie sheet @ 375˚ for 20 minutes. (If you don’t want to make individual shell, you can also take a loaf of bread dough, roll it out like a pizza, spread the stuff on top and put another loaf, rolled out, on top and then pinch the sides down. Then I baste it with egg (or melted butter), garlic salt and parmesan cheese.)
* If you have a bread machine, you can make regular white bread dough,if you don't have frozen dough. OR I guess you can make dough by hand, too.
